As the whole world continues to deal with the ongoing Covid-19 situation, we would like to assure you that one of our highest priorities this season is the health, safety, and security of our guests and team members COVID-19 has fundamentally changed the way we live and therefore we have taken the necessary measures and adjusted our daily operations, to fit within the new 'normal' at The Island Hotel.
In compliance with the Health Authorities guidelines & additional protocol implementations, we and a team of experts have carefully crafted The Island Hotel – We Care About You – in depth cleanliness- and disinfection programme, which is designed to ensure your safety and peace-of-mind at our accommodation from check-in to check-out.
A new 22-step protocol is currently being introduced to our hotel. New cleaning and disinfection procedures, increased attention to safety incommunal spaces, protective equipment, and updated training for team members are included in the new protocols. These protocols describe specific processes and measures that are designed to make you feel confident when you visit us. To learn more, read the outlined steps below:
Implement physical distancing measures throughout the hotel.
Increase cleaning and disinfecting frequency throughout the hotel, paying attention to high-touch items.
Install alcohol-based hand sanitizing and glove stations near the front entrance and public areas.
Provide clean and disinfected key cards upon check-in.
Improve air circulation processes to increase air quality.
Wash all linens at a high temperature for optimal disinfection.
Protective masks for all serving staff.
HACCP certified kitchen protocols further enhanced.
Adhere to the strict safety procedures while serving all food and beverages.
Remove all additional items in rooms, including coffee & tea facilities, decorative pillows and bedding, room directory, pens, notebooks etc.
Team Members have received an intensive training on comprehensive hygiene, Health & Safety and PPE use.
Administer daily temperature checks for team members.
All team members with personal protective equipment.
Offer cash-free methods of payment.
According to the General Secretariat for Civil Protection authorities, concerning Heraklion prefecture, from 01/09/20 06:00 till 30/09/20 06:00,the use of face masks is mandatory in enclosed as well as open spaces.
The shower rooms can not be offered this season.
The library and the laptop corner will not be available for safety reasons.
Please note that in the Buffet area’s, where the food is served, masks are obligatory. We will provide you with masks for the first day, and we kindly ask you to bring masks, sufficient for the complete length of your stay.

Health and Safety protocols are in place
Considering the health and safety of our guests and staff as our top priority, we assure you that our integrated Health and Safety action plan foresees all measures, specifications and procedures across all hotel departments to address the new COVID-19, in accordance to the World Health Organisation, the Greek Ministry of Health and local authorities.
We emphasize that the instructions can be modified according to the development of the epidemic and based on the decisions/circulars of the competent Ministries.
The hotel already follows and will continue to implement all legislative acts and Governmental orders to maintain its high standards of hygiene procedures throughout its property. As well as all the measures recommended by NPHO (National Public Health Organization) and the WHO (World Health Organization), for the protection against the COVID-19 outbreak, in order to provide all guests with a safe and healthy environment.
The Hotel shall not be held liable for any damage, whether to persons or property, and all the relevant losses, expenses and costs which the Guest shall incur or suffer due to illness caused by Coronavirus (COVID-19), any other contagious or infectious disease, virus or/and any variation of the above mentioned, during or after the Guest’s stay at the Hotel or in relation to or on the occasion of the provision by the Hotel of the service agreed herein. In case the Guest is obliged to extend his/her stay at the Hotel because of such illness, the Hotel shall not be liable to bear any expenses and costs pertaining to the Guest’s medical treatment and care, hospitality, nutrition or any other expense related, directly or indirectly, to the extension of the Guest’s stay at the Hotel.
Operation at reduced capacity:
Reduction of seating capacity in our F&B outlets to maintain social distancing rules
Arranging of tables to maintain the social distancing rooms
Room service is strongly suggested to guests who don’t feel well but can be offered to any guest that wishes to dine in privacy.
Food Safety standards:
High standards of food safety and hygiene according to HACCP procedures
Chefs and their teams in the kitchens keep all the protective measures regarding Covid-19 disease ( personal hygiene, work uniforms, hand gloves, face masks, avoid close contact)

Good infection control begins with assuming everyone is potentially infectious and following proper procedures at all times to reduce transmission of infection:
